“Your child needs sun”: OSRAM promotes the benefits of UV lamps as light sources that mimic the radiation of the sun in an ad campaign from the 1930s.

Good lighting means better quality of life – this insight is not a discovery of our day. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, scientists discovered that the widespread “English disease” (rickets) among children can be treated with UV radiation. OSRAM responded by teaming up with a hospital in Hamburg to launch the Vitalux lamp in 1928. It has 500 watts with UV-permeable glass.
